Welcome to the Brookhaven Barracudas!
If this is your first experience with a summer swim team, we hope our website helps to answer your questions and provides the information you will need to enjoy being a Barracuda! If you are a seasoned swim family, welcome back!
We are a part of the Greater Charlotte Swim League (GCSL), which is comprised of 6 divisions. GCSL provides each team with ribbons, determines the meet schedule, devises the scoring system and maintains bylaws for our league to follow. Our league abides by USA Swimming guidelines to maintain safe and equitable competition for everyone. We are in Division 4 this year.
Our team is managed by parent volunteers. Please keep this in mind as you discover imperfections! Parent volunteers coordinate the team, order team apparel, organize equipment, activities, and volunteers; keep track of swimming times and records; and provide communication between coaches, swimmers, and parents. Meet management and league representation are also provided by volunteers.
The Head Coach’s job is to lead and supervise the Barracuda’s competitive swim program. We are very happy to announce that Anvi Remella will be returning to the Barracudas as head coach this year, as well as Assistant Coaches Caroline Ledford, Walter Powell, and Nick Rosen. This year, we are also continuing the Junior Coaching Program to support our younger swimmers.
The Barracudas Swim Team strives to provide a fun, competitive and family centered environment that will inspire every swimmer to challenge their minds and their bodies to do their very best! The teams’ goals that we strive for each season are SPORTSMANSHIP and TEAMWORK. Our ultimate goal is to instill a love of swimming that will last a lifetime. We hope this summer helps move your family towards these goals.
