Welcome Brookhaven Barracudas 2026 Swimmers & Families!

Dear Barracuda Families,

This email will cover quite a bit of information, so please read it in full. First and foremost, we are so excited that your family is joining us for the 2026 summer swim season! The kids all have so much fun and we are pumped up to get our neighbors together to cheer them all on!

Coaches Information: This season we welcome back Head Coach Anvitha Remella, as well as Assistant Coaches Walker Powell, and Caroline Ledford. We are excited to have a new Assistant Coach AJ Taylor! We are also continuing our volunteer Junior Coaching Program to support our young swimmers by having Michaela Maddox, Dylan Karlic, and Bennett Bush helping in the pool again (all year round swimmers with MSA). Our coaching team is dedicated to fostering a love of swimming, building team spirit, and enhancing technique while ensuring a fun and supportive environment!

Registration: There's still room for more swimmers! If you know any other swimmers who may be interested, please share the link with them! A few age groups to highlight specifically - 13-14 Boys, 13-14 Girls, 15-18 Girls all need a few more swimmers to ensure we can pull together relays at the swim meets.

What's included in Registration: Your registration includes the cost of all practices, all swim meets, team events, a team shirt, and a team swim cap.

Team Swim Suit: The deadline to order as a part of our bulk shipping has passed, however you can still order a swimsuit, but will incur a shipping charge and the suit will be mailed directly to you. Important Links:

Practices: Practice begins on Monday, May 18 (weather permitting) and will run Monday through Thursday on non-swim meet days. In the event of a weather delay or cancellation we will communicate via the swimtopia app. Practices are 45 minutes each, grouped by age:

  • 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm: 6 & Under Boys and Girls
  • 4:45 pm - 5:30 pm: 7 & 8 Boys and Girls
  • 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm: 9 & 10 Boys and Girls
  • 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm: 11 & Up Boys and Girls

Dive & Technique Clinic:

  • Free Stroke Technique and Dive Clinic will be on Saturday, June 6th from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Brookhaven pool.

Team Kick-Off Party:

  • Friday, May 15th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the Clubhouse (Lower level, entrance by the pool).
  • A great opportunity to meet the coaches and other families.
  • Jon Christy sent out an email on May 8th with more information.

End of Season Awards Ceremony and Celebration Party:

  • Saturday, June 27th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Clubhouse (Upper level).

Swim Meets:

  • 6 meets this year (3 home/3 away), plus the All-Star meet and the Relay Carnival.
  • Home meet start time is 5:30 PM, warm-ups are 4:30pm.
  • Away meet start time is 6pm, warm-ups are 5:30pm.
  • We recommend bringing camping style chairs to all meets, water bottles, and lots of sunscreen. It can be hot on the pool deck so having a portable fan or a cooling towel can be helpful. Hats and bug spray can also be helpful.
  • Concessions are typically on site for purchase. Home meets will have concessions and TCBY present for purchase. Venmo and Cash are accepted.

  • Monday, June 1 (Home): Brookhaven vs. Summerwood Stingrays at Brookhaven; 3001 Stanbury Drive, Matthews, NC, 28104. Warm-ups begin at 4:30 PM; the meet starts at 5:30 PM.
  • Thursday, June 4 (Away): Brookhaven vs. Lake Park Piranhas at Lake Park; 3801 Lake Park Rd, Indian Trail, NC, 28079. Warm-ups begin at 5:30 PM; the meet starts at 6:00 PM.
  • Tuesday, June 9 (Away): Brookhaven vs. Sardis Forest Swim Team Dolphins at Sardis Forest; 1415 Berry Ridge Road, Charlotte, NC, 28270. Warm-ups begin at 5:30 PM; the meet starts at 6:00 PM.
  • Thursday, June 11 (Away): Brookhaven vs. Crismark Comets at Crismark; 3010 Crismark Dr, Indian Trail, NC, 28079. Warm-ups begin at 5:30 PM; the meet starts at 6:00 PM.
  • Monday, June 15 (Home): Brookhaven vs. Brandon Oaks Sharks atBrookhaven; 3001 Stanbury Drive, Matthews, NC, 28104. Warm-ups begin at 4:30 PM; the meet starts at 5:30 PM.
  • Thursday, June 18 (Home): Brookhaven vs. Mountainbrook Wild Things atBrookhaven; 3001 Stanbury Drive, Matthews, NC, 28104. Warm-ups begin at 4:30 PM; the meet starts at 5:30 PM.
  • Fun Relay Carnival Event, Saturday morning, June 20 (Away): Pink Division Relay Carnival at Brandon Oaks Sharks; 2333 Brandon Oaks Pkwy, Indian Trail, NC, 28079. Warm-ups begin at TBD; the meet starts at 9 AM.
  • All Star Meet Friday, June 26 (Away): Pink Division All Star Meet at MCAC, 800 E MLK Jr. Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28202, Warm-ups begin at TBD; the meet will start at 6:00 PM.

Volunteer Commitment and Registration:

  • Sign-ups will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so plan to register early to get your preferred spots.
  • Each family is required to sign-up for 5 volunteer shifts, which consists of 4 regular shifts and 1 fill-in shift.

Team Gear: All swimmers who registered by the deadline will receive a team T-shirt and cap once received. We will be distributing them at swim practice once they come in. Additional gear can be ordered on the website. We appreciate your patience as items are delivered and distributed at practice. * Late registration swimmers are not guaranteed a t-shirt but will receive one if available.
